Required User Permissions
All users can search for Documents they have access to. Access to Documents is controlled via Project and Facility Permissions.
Additional Information
There are five ways you can search for Documents, click the links below to jump to the section:
You can layer these search techniques to find Documents. For example, if you’re looking for an O&M Manual for a Fan Coil Unit, you might use the search bar to search for “Fan Coil Unit” or “FCU” and apply the “O&M Manuals” Tag.
The Search Bar
The Search Bar can be accessed via the Documents Homepage, or the Facility Homepage.
Type the keyword you’d like to search for. When you press Enter, SiteLine looks for your search term within:
- The Documents name.
- The contents of the document (if the Document is machine-readable or was processed through an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) software before being uploaded).
- The Documents file path.
You’ll notice that the search term is no longer in the search bar, and now appears as an applied filter below. This allows you to layer multiple search terms. If you need to start a brand-new search, remove the previous search term by pressing ‘x’.
The Project Directory
The Project Directory is the folder structure as it's been uploaded into SiteLine. By clicking on the arrow next to the name of the folder, you can browse through folders to find what you need. Continue to click the arrow next to a sub-folder to expand its contents. Clicking on a folder name will filter your search results to the files contained within that folder.
Tags
Use the arrows next to the Tag Groups to expand that section and select the Tag you’d like use as a filter. You continue selecting as many tags as you need to narrow down your search results.
Markups
If Documents and Drawings contain Markups, the option to filter by them on the Document Homepage will be displayed. The Markup Groups are:
- My Markups: Shows Documents that contain personal markups created by you.
- Published: Shows Documents that contain Published Markups, organized by Layers.
- Assets: Shows Documents that contain Asset Stamps.
- Locations: Shows Documents that contain Location Stamps.
Collections
If Collections have been created, the option to filter by them on the Document Homepage will be displayed. The Collection Groups are:
- My Collections: Personal collections that have been created by you.
- Published Collections: Collections that have been created and published by a Facility Administrator.
Published Collections will also be displayed on the Facility Homepage.
