Import Locations from a Spreadsheet

To add locations from a spreadsheet, start by opening the Locations module. 

If you have already prepared the template, follow the below steps. If not, jump to the "Prepare a Spreadsheet" section.

Click "Add Location" and select "Spreadsheet". 


Choose file to upload. 


Click "Import".

Understanding the Spreadsheet

Attribute Groupings & Details 

The downloaded spreadsheet will give you many custom options to fill in for the Floors and Rooms. 
The below screenshots have been color coded to help illustrate groupings and are not the standard colors used in the templates. 


  1. Row 1: Attribute Groupings. All columns that need to be grouped together under this specific Attribute Group will have the same label in Row 1. EX: All Common Attributes will be grouped under "Common Attributes". 
  1. Row 2: Attribute Details. Each unique attribute detail will be listed in Row 2. You can add, modify, or remove any columns you do not want/need. 
Location Type, Floor Name, Floor or Room Type, Room Name, Room Number, Signage Name and Signage Number are required fields.

Rows

Each LEVEL and ROOM will have their own row. If the attribute details applies to that level/room, fill in that cell. If not, leave blank. Blank entries will not appear in VueOps. 
      

Populating the Spreadsheet

To fill out the sheet, include 1 row specifically for the Level/Floor. Populate Location Type as "Floor" and Floor Name as the level name. Room or Signage Names and Numbers are not needed for the Floors. 
For each floor, list all their rooms below; 1 room to a row. 
Make sure the Location is "Room" and Floor Name is the same as the Floor Name used for the Level . 



Make sure to include a row for the Floor/Level to group all the Rooms under. 

Populate the spreadsheet until all Floors and Rooms have been populated. 
Save spreadsheet in a location you can quickly access. 
Follow the steps in the "Prepared Spreadsheet" section above.
