SiteLine Checklist for Construction Warranty
As you approach the substantial completion date for your project, it's a good time to prepare for the construction warranty program. Warranty programs typically last for one year after substantial completion of a project and help to smooth the transition from construction to building operations.
Here is a checklist you can follow to set up and run your warranty program:
- Fill in and submit a Construction Warranty Request Form at least 6 weeks before the Substantial Completion date.
If your project is organized into phases, you will need to decide if you want a separate warranty program for each phase, or if you want a single warranty for all of the phases.
- VueOps will set up your project in SiteLine and you will receive a confirmation that the site is ready. You will also receive an invitation to log in.
- Once you log in, you can make sure SiteLine is ready to support your warranty program.
- Add New Users - other members of the project team, trade partners, the building FM team, owners and tenants. (more details about adding users)
- Project team - In addition to the warranty manager, you may have other team members who will be involved in overseeing the warranty program
- Trade Partners - Many warranty issues will be assigned to a trade partner for resolution. Adding trade partners as users gives them the ability to log in, view and update the tickets assigned to them.
- Building Owners, tenants and FM team - Most warranty issues will be raised by this group. Adding them as users will let them log in to add, update and view ticket status.
- Update the information about your project: (more details about updating projects in SiteLine)
- Warranty start and end date
- Update the warranty manager and any default watchers
- Add New Users - other members of the project team, trade partners, the building FM team, owners and tenants. (more details about adding users)
- Share instructions on using SiteLine for warranty with all users
That's all there is to it! Your project is now ready to start managing warranty issues in SiteLine! If you have questions about setting up SiteLine or would like VueOps to provide a live overview of SiteLine and the warranty process, just click this link to schedule a time.
Optional: Adding Turnover Documents, Locations and Assets to SiteLine
You can make SiteLine even more powerful when you add documents, locations or assets.
Turnover documents such as O&M Manuals, submittals and record drawings can be helpful in resolving warranty issues. These documents can be uploaded to SiteLine for easy reference during warranty. VueOps can help - email us at support@vueops.com when your turnover documents are ready. (more information on turnover guidelines)
A location directory of the buildings, levels and rooms can be loaded into SiteLine so that warranty issues can be linked to specific locations. The location directory can be extracted from a model, or it can be uploaded from a spreadsheet. (Contact us for instructions)
Asset data can also be loaded into SiteLine so that warranty issues can be linked to specific assets or equipment. Asset data can be extracted from a model, or it can be uploaded from a spreadsheet. (Contact us for instructions)
